Notes

John, Spence as his mother and her family call him, is an excellent salesman ... I've often said he could "sell a horse shoe to an Eskimo or polar bear". He has a high sense of morality and ethics and is a caring husband and father.

Apart from his business endeavours, John is an excellent athlete. He has played squash in his younger days and most people could not beat him even when they sent the ball down his actual bind side. As he matured John left squash and took up athletics where he discovered that he is a sprinter more than anything else ... well, to tell the truth he hates distance running though he doesn't mind throws or the long jump. He holds several relay records in various age groups in Canberra, has been Oceania Veteran's Pentathlon Champion, Australian Pentathlon Champion and won innumerable medals in various events.

While his sons and wife love him dearly, his most ardent admirers are his dog and cat, Harry (5) and Damia (13) respectively. Both of whom have him twisted firmly around the tips of their tails. Harry is a Staffordshire Terrier (pure bred, of course .... well, accident actually he came from the RSPCA because he had the sense to be the quietest dog in the kennels the day I went to find a Eris's successor and to give me a big cuddle on introduction). The RSPCA named Harry after Harry Houdini because he kept escaping .... Escape?? ..... Escape from John?? You have to be kidding. Harry knows when he's on a good thing. We couldn't get him out of the house for 3 months and then only in John's company. Harry is well aware though that Damia is "top dog" after John .... well, maybe he puts me in there somewhere but only when John's out and I've got access to food!!

Damia keeps Harry in line by occassionally jumping out at him from hidden corners and scratching his nose but mostly she lies in the sun or tries, unsuccessfully, to catch the mice in the hedge.

John's other talents include tea making (especially in the early morning), roast dinners to die for, research abilities extraordinairre and being an all around great guy.

Sources As John is my husband I have first hand knowledge of this.
